Our Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital has been offering veterinary care in Wimbledon for over 100 years and became part of the Goddard Veterinary Group in 2001. Remaining a consistent part of the community through this time, Stone Lion Hospital offers the highest standards of care to pets requiring an Emergency Vet in South West London.

Emergency Facilities and Services
Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital is open 24hrs a day, 365 days per year, with experienced vets and nurses always on hand to care for your pet. Alongside an extensive range of daily veterinary practices offered at our hospital, there are a number of specialist practices available under the same roof or as part of referrals to Goddard Veterinary Group’s recommended practitioners. Our range of services varies from vaccinations and health checks to consultations, diagnostic tests, and a range of medical and surgical treatments.
All our hospital veterinary surgeons have their own areas of particular interest and are available to provide further advice and experienced veterinary opinion for referrals in many of the following disciplines:

We are dedicated to offering a friendly and compassionate service to our clients and providing the highest quality healthcare for your pet. Our veterinary surgeons are assisted by knowledgeable and experienced staff helping us set the standards for excellence in veterinary care. We offer separate cat and dog waiting areas in our spacious air-conditioned reception area to ensure your pets remain calm and comfortable. We also provide complimentary coffee and tea and video information screens. The reception area offers a wide range of pet accessories and high-quality complete pet foods, and our reception team will be happy to advise on your pet’s nutritional and health needs.
We have excellent facilities including consultation rooms, dedicated operating suites, separate dog and cat hospitalisation wards, and isolation areas where strict barrier nursing techniques are observed. We pride ourselves on our intensive care facilities with fluid infusion pumps, oxygen therapy kennels, heating incubators, and advanced monitoring equipment.

How To Find Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital
Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital is found on High Street close to the southwest corner of Wimbledon and Putney Commons. The practice is a 15-minute walk from Wimbledon Station heading west along Wimbledon Hill Road. The station is accessible on South Western Railway and Thameslink trains. If you are visiting the practice by car there is limited bay parking available outside the practice.
Please note this practice is located within the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

Julie qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1992 and joined the Goddard Group in 2015, having spent over 20 years as a small animal vet in both the private and charity sectors where she was the Hospital Director for the RSPCA London hospitals. After seven years being Head of Region and Head Vet at the Stone Lion Hospital, Julie became a Regional Head Vet for the Goddard Group in 2022. Julie is particularly interested in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.

Francesca graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and joined the team at Stone Lion via our New Graduate scheme in 2018. She became the Head Vet at the hospital in 2023. Francesca is particularly interested in medicine and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the gym, cooking, yoga and travelling.

Beatriz graduated from the University of Lisbon in Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Since then she has worked in small animal, equine and mixed practice, as well as hospitals and ambulatory clinics. Beatriz has a special interest in internal medicine, ultrasound, and soft tissue surgery. In her free time she enjoys horse riding, gardening, and painting in watercolours.

Sandra enjoys all aspects of the veterinary profession, but has a special interest in internal medicine (feline), ultrasound and emergency work. Before joining the team at Stone Lion in 2022, Sandra worked as an intern in two referral hospitals in her native Spain, and gained a postgraduate qualification in feline medicine in 2019.

Teresa has a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2010 and a PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Valencia in 2018, as well as obtaining a postgraduate degree in Small Animal Surgery in 2013. She is part of the emergency team at the Stone Lion Hospital and specialises in emergencies and intensive care. During her professional career she has combined her work in important hospitals in London, Madrid and Valencia as part of the Emergency and Surgery services. She has also been responsible for the animal facility of the Research Foundation of the General University Hospital of Valencia. During her professional career Teresa has combined her work in small animals with clinical and research in marine animals, developing her PhD on the study of decompression syndrome in sea turtles. She is also an associate professor at university of veterinary medicine and author of multiple scientific papers and national and international publications

Andrew has been with the Goddard Gropu since 2001 and qualified as a veterinary nurse at Stone Lion in 2006. He then spent six years at our busy Fulham branch before returning to Stone Lion in 2014. Andrewenjoys working as a clinical coach training student nurses and has a particular interest in client care and patient rehabilitation. At home Andrew has had many cats and dogs over the years but most of his spare time is now spent with his two daughters.

Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys painting, creating art, baking, and making cakes.

She then worked at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Lisbon’s University, mainly as Ward and Consult Nurse before moving to the UK. In her free time Joana loves going to the movies and hanging out with her cats.

Chantel has a keen interest in emergency and medical nursing, but also has experience in hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and assisting with the treatment of zoo animals.

She completed her BSc in Biological Sciences and MSc in Animal Behaviour from the University of Roehampton, and is now training to be a veterinary nurse. In her free time, Stacey likes everything creative (painting, photography and making jewellery at the moment) and spending time with her sassy and silly rescue cat Salem.

She has two rescue cats and a Border Terrier.

After working in banking for 27 years Tania decided to follow her heart and started a career working with animals. She began as an auxiliary nurse in a wildlife hospital and after two years joined the team at Stone Lion as a receptionist. Tania is now the line manager for the team of five receptionists. Tania is the first port of call for any wildlife casualties that are brought in and helps with the rehoming of strays. At home, Tania has six cats, three rabbits and one tortoise (all rescues) and enjoys cycling, reading and volunteering at Wildlife Aid.

Annette joined Stone Lion in November 2010 following a long career with HSBC. She loves cats and in her spare time volunteers for Cats’ Protection at their Chelwood Gate adoption centre. Annettesupports several animal charities and is a member of The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent. In her spare time, Annette enjoys 80s music and Formula One. She lives with her husband and feisty cat Lulu.
